Description
PAIR OF Wolseley 18/ 85s - NOT SOLD INDIVIDUALLY.
Green DFD702K, 1971 Wolseley 18/ 85 and Black JNH329F, 1969 Wolseley 18/ 85.
Selling as I don’t have the time to use or maintain them - I live at the other end of the country!
DFD - 31, 500 on odometer. Has been running in my ownership, in fair mechanical order but will need trailering away. I took out the HTs and sparks to try and get JNH going. Brakes would need attention before driving, and needs engine mounts (with car) and gearstick linkages re-attaching. Fuel system would benefit from a clean and re-piping so it can suit the new petrol. The car is however complete, just will need tinkering to get roadworthy. Still has dynamo. Cosmetically is good, was subject to a brush paint job at some point and drivers and rear bench seats have tears.
Some rust but floor pans and sills are solid, bit of bubbling on doors. LED bulbs, reversing light was fitted but due to bent bumper is not in place. I drained the radiator as the wrong coolant was in it but radiator seems fine - would just need a flush. Also will come with new piping for cooling system. Have a fair amount of documentation with it dating back to est. 2017/ 18. Known to the Landcrab forum.
JNH - 76, 691 on Odometer. Wolseley Six shell with 18/ 85 running gear. Has had a ‘silver seal’ replacement engine at some point, and alternator converted. Last running 2017 (est.). I have got it turning over but not firing. Suspect carb needs a clean and new filters. Interior is loose but excellent - red seats and new red carpet, floor pan extremely solid and mainly cosmetic (non-structural) rust around front valance/ headlamp bowls/ bonnet etc. Sills seem ok. Has rare Lucas foglamps and chromework better than DFD. Some paperwork with this.
Overall a very good car can be obtained, using one as spares. As I have not driven both I do not know if clutch needs doing but may be worthwhile when the mounts are done on DFD. From quick moving back and forth it seems good.
Very near offers considered. For viewings I will need to communicate with family living nearby and would have to work around their working hours. I can take calls but please text first as I won’t be able to get to the phone all the time.
Will come with a collection of manuals, and some spare parts. Bought so I had a project after selling my Series 3 Land Rover. These are rare cars and an interesting piece of automotive history, ahead of their time and never quite fitted in any market category, with the Wolseley models being the better appointed and more exclusive ones.
