After 3 years following all Saab 99 turbo ads, twee attempts buy them locally, suddenly appeared this black Saab 99 turbo on the rally forum. This one needed some TLC. The Saab was standing in the field for a while and the engine was out. The Saab was priced to sell. I thought “ If I don’t buy it now, I will never buy one.
So I contacted the seller and after a brief mail contact a deal was made. The Saab was transported to the Netherlands and the first impression was good. Until that time it had approximately 60K miles on the gauge. New axle tunnels were welded welding and some other small spots. The wheel arched were not rusted. It needed minimal welding and the basis was good. ( Saab 99 turbo 1 from Europe often need a lot welding.
I stripped the Saab myself , after that the welding and painting was done. Though I like the grey Saab 99 turbo better I decided that the color should stay the original black.
Every day I checked for new Saab 99 parts on tradera. At that time the prices of NOS Saab parts were more friendly that now. If obtainable NOS parts were mounted ( bumpers, tail lights , rear spoiler, speakers, switched), front window door and tail door handles
New suspension was mounted ( original Bilstein, new rubbers and springs) All the suspension parts were powder coated. Also the complete brakes for upgraded with new parts.
The car was transformed to EU specs ( no heating problems) Now K Jetronic. The engine was revised, a new turbo was installed.
Bas Smit ( BASAutotechniek ) put the Saab back together. After 4 months of building to Saab back to its former glory. The Saab needed to go the Dutch register office to see and inspect . The Saab passed the test without any remarks. At that moment the Saab had a original water injection kit and primary 5. To be honest , this was not the Saab 99 turbo I dreamt of. So the Saab went back to Bas. I explained what I wanted and how I wanted the Saab to drive and handle.
In the next period several upgrades were mounted.

When I got the Saab back, this was how in my opinion a Saab 99 turbo should drive. Now it has approximately 175 BHP
After renovation the Saab has driven approximately 10K kilometers, with a lot of fun. Than the question why are you selling it.
Combination of the following. I cannot bring my dog in this Saab, I also own a Saab 900 turbo s for 18 years. Therefore I decided that this one needs to go to an owner that admires this Saab.
