VELOCETTE 500 VENOM THRUXTON
NEWLY BUILT FULL AND CORRECT SPEC VENOM THRUXTON

Built 2021-2024 from many new old stock parts and 1967 Venom chassis.
Created alongside the renovation of a 1966 Thruxton and correct specification in all details.
There were many Thruxtons created after the factory closed by Velocette dealers – Dodkin, Seymour etc. This is another post factory closure built Thruxton. – Just a very recent one!
Engine.
New old stock late heat treated crankcases from Nick Payton.
New old stock Thruxton cylinder head assembly from Geoff Dodkin all components – head, seats, valves, guides, springs collets everything all new and unused.
Cylinder – original Thruxton item re-sleeved to standard with “Chromard” hard chrome faced steel liner
New old stock Hepolite piston
Crank from 67 Venom fitted with new Alpha big end bearing and new Timken 1922/ 1944 taper main bearings, new small end bush. Crank assembly correctly balanced to Hepolite piston
New old stock Thruxton offset cam followers with new old stock Thruxton one piece pushrods.
All gears and excellent 17/ 8 cam selected from my stock – all in as new condition with new bushes fitted.
Carefully selected from in stock items original rocker cover and rockers in perfect condition
All alloy parts vapour bead blasted or polished.
60w Lucas dynamo reconditioned. – Rutland dynamos
Lucas K1F magneto fully reconditioned. – Rutland dynamos
Carburettor – reconditioned Amal 1036 MK1 concentric same as fitted to later factory Thruxtons.
Gearbox 12 series, standard close ratio fully rebuilt only using perfect components and new bearings
Clutch fully overhauled with parts renewed as necessary. New roller type thrust bearing
Wheels all rebuilt using period Borrani flanged alloy rims, new stainless double butted spokes.
Ralph Seymour style scalloped hubs rebuilt with new bearings. Brakes all rebuilt.
Front Tickle twin leading shoe is a new old stock brake plate and shoes with all linkages, pivots etc. newly manufactured in stainless steel.
Shoes skimmed to match the drums. Rear drum / sprocket is new.
Forks rebuilt with new chromed stanchions, new springs and all new bushes and seals including damper assemblies.
Steering head bearings - new Timken taper rollers.
Frame swing arm pivot rebushed with new trunnion shaft and new dust shields.
Centre stand pivots re-machined and new pivots made.
New chains and sprockets throughout.
Tyres new Avon Speedmaster front and Roadrunner rear.
All cycle parts powder coated apart from Fork lowers, petrol tank and oil tank which are 2k acrylic sprayed.
Tank lining and logo are template sprayed not stickers or transfers.
Seat recovered with cover supplied by Leightons
Instruments are both fully refurbished items from Classic Speedometers
Many new or re-chromed parts. Much bespoke made stainless parts, and fixings. Polished and bead blasted to resemble original cadmium finish.
Currently on sorn I rode a few short test rides at the end of last summer ( about 9 miles in total ) to check all was well. It was so ready for new owner, drained of fuel and stored in heated workshop since.
Starts well, ticks over well runs well.
Will need some running / settling in by new owner.
