2005 Ford Mustang V6 4. 0 Convertible - Needs Light Recommissioning After Short Heated Storage
Running and driving very nicely.
Driven daily by my father for around six or seven years, it is a beautiful car, this Mustang is very much his pride and joy. He is now of very poor health and forgetting things, we’re moving him abroad to fulfil one of his dreams, he wants to store it forever but it just isn’t possible in the circumstances and it needs a new loving home.
(a) Recommissioning Needed
It has been in mildly heated storage for 13 months following my fathers surgery and is due another MOT. The last MOT, which expired 12 months ago had three advisories, possibly some or all of these were attended to, my father doesn’t retain information. They included a minor oil leak, play on two ball joints and a worn suspension bush. I know he carried out suspension work, but I do not know what, I know it didn’t leak any oil during storage.
So I was really excited to make some progress with this Mustang and since listing it a few days ago I have fixed the injector (broken wiring connection) and the emissions (linked to the injector), I couldn't help myself. We then drove it 5-10 miles and it was beautiful. The only observations are a very loud and noisy hydraulic tappet. If you were changing a tappet, you would just change them all and a set of 6 is £150, £25 each.
My friend drove her, he's built rally cars for a living for nearly fifty years. He said everything else felt good, albeit it will need a good check before an MOT.
(b) Condition
First registered in Hollywood and living in California until 2018, this example is excellent underneath. Up top you have various imperfections to the paintwork, but it looks good. My father paid £2000 for a new convertible roof. Inside it is aged and would benefit from a good valet and there is a tear in the drivers seat bolster.
(c) General Information
It was a very reliable car in his ownership, one of those that just rarely, if ever had issues. The mileage reads 141, 000 kilo-meters (87, 000 miles I assume). I owned this Mustang before my father and purchased it from the first owner who’m was an enthusiast, I drove it daily for six months before gifting it to him in 2018 or 2019. When I purchased it it had a huge in depth history folder, but my father has memory issues and we cannot find it at this stage. It is HPI clear with no history of accidents or finance. When I purchased it it had the wrong engine on the logbook, the logbook states 4. 6 which must be an import mistake, we just left it as it was, but this should be easy to change with the DVLA.
It is priced to sell quickly, I have never seen one so cheap. We finally have my fathers agreement to sell it so we want it to move quickly. We have also rented out the warehouses that we store it in with tenants moving in soon. Me and my girlfriend are moving abroad next week so finding the time to properly prepare her for sale is impossible, albeit we can arrange for my sister to meet buyers if it is after we leave. We would love her to go to an enthusiast, someone prepared to re-commission her and continue to use her daily.
