Description
1999 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Series GX. Restored.
My own car for over ten years. Hence a dedicated service log not maintained. I never envisaged having to sell her... Parking lost and a change of circumstances.
Tons of receipts but need to make up a folder.
Bought as a sole trader for hauling and launching & recovering rescue boats from tricky environments and of course the towing aspect.
Used 'in anger' for work for eight years. Didn't miss a beat, never let down.
We're now a limited company with various other vehicles and this one wasn't included when we went limited.
Comfortable and super reliable. She's a Land Cruiser 100 series, GX, Coil sprung with more horses than the Grand National; ten-fold.
Large, brutal yet very refined. She's been Stately Home-based for four years, worked, but pampered and maintained. Life critical working role in a rescue environment. Details welcome to be available if we get to a discussion stage.
Bodywork and interior were looking very shabby, so an 'appointments' and 'family' motor was bought, a TDV8 Range Rover...
Absolute trash in comparison but much more presentable. After 12-months ownership and bills equivalent to the purchase price, that was sold, the sensible course of action was obviously to spend the sale monies on the restoration of the Land Cruiser (aka, according to my little girl, the 'Big, Purple Bus'.)
Decision made, the truck went to Marrion 4x4 for a full mechanical overall and service, then the interior removed entirely prior to being delivered to a well rated body shop in Burntwood, Staffordshire. £5, 500. 00 and the entire shell worked over, an eight month job. Replacement tailgate, new lower bodywork and wheel arches.
At the same time, Trim Tech Solutions, a classic car upholstery retrimming company in Walsall (World centre of leather craft excellence) retrimmed the seats (excluding the 3rd row - we have a disabled little girl and her mobility chair plus the very large dog meant that row 'had to go'. - frames available if required) in cherry 'Bentley' grade hide leather.
She then went to get the suspension sorted and the MOT fails rectified (having stood for over a year off the road) and the chap made a right mess of the work. Eventually recovered and the suspension set up (Pedders, 2" lift coils and shocks and torsion bars) the damage was rectified then the cills, inner and outer, plus various other parts underneath were worked on and rectified by Mick in Huntingdon, Cannock. (Top man).
12. 3. 26 and she's back with a new diesel fuel return line, replacement tank strap and wheel bearings fitting by Overland Cruisers, Expedition Specialist for Land Cruisers, near Ledbury, including a full check over.
A Family decision put my old girl up for sale. Rather gutted, but the time has come. She's not 'Concourse', but she could be, and I wouldn't hesitate setting off for Cape Town, South Africa, tomorrow as she is.
She's got me in for £17, 000. 00 to date and that is my asking price.
She's done less than 8k miles a year and less than five thousand in the last four years, surplus to requirements as we're going to be losing the parking, and she needs to be enjoyed as a second vehicle for leisure rather than a 'daily drive'. I'm the second owner... Tells you something after 27 years!
Classic insurance, sensible road tax (£300 is) and 25-30 mpg combined.
Come take a look, kettle usually on. 500m junction 12 of the M6.
