For Sale is our much loved Rover P6 3500 V8 Auto.
Well-known on the classic car show circuit, we have enjoyed this car for over 2 years. It even has its own YouTube channel - 'Old Cars New Van' - alongside our other classics. There are plenty of videos on there for you to watch featuring this car, including the photographic record of its full body restoration between 2020 and 2022. It's not Concours but it's a very very high standard.
Eagle eyed amongst you will remember this being offered for sale in January, but I withdrew it because a couple of problems appeared from its winter storage. The steering had gone heavy and the car wasn't running as well as it can.
£822 later (receipt to prove) after visiting Clive Annable in Derby (probably the best-known and most respected P6 specialist in the country) the car is running superbly and the steering is spot on. It also now has an advisory free MOT to Feb 2027 for peace of mind despite it being exempt & Historic. Fully serviced at the same time.
Purchased by us in November 2023 from a 'high end' classic car dealer, it is now time for it to have a new home to make way for another classic to join our fleet.
Offered for sale at a lot less than we bought the car for, plus what we have spent on it during our ownership. It had previously been to Clive Annable just after purchase in late 2023. £864. 86 that time (receipts to prove) where he fully went over the car - this was mainly bushes, suspension bits particularly the rear suspension and rear new brakes, gaiters etc - too much to list but we have all the work itemised.
She drives superbly and easily keeps up with modern traffic. I cruised back at 65 / 70 from Derby now that Clive has waved his magic!
But like any 53 year old motoring antique, these lovely cars are always 'work in progress'. The intermittent wipe doesn't work - speeds 1 & 2 are fine.
During the restoration the decision was made to retain the original bright work, including bumpers, as they were in very good condition. They still are - but they are 53 years old so not perfect, unlike the paint and panels which are.
Same with the interior. The headliner inside is original, no rips or tears and isn't sagging. But it wears its years and is stained (doesn't smell). I was going to clean it but 'chickened out', fearing modern products might do more harm than good. Carpets were new in the restoration - the leather seats are unrestored and are good condition but are 53 years old.
To summarise - full body, structure and paint restoration NOT an entire seats, headliner, bumpers restoration. This is a lovely £14k plus car being sold for £11495. It is not a £25k car being sold for £11495 if that makes sense!
Displayed mileage is 51, 841 but the original non-working speedo was replaced in the restoration for a second hand original replacement - the estimated mileage is therefore probably 65, 000 miles in total. V5 in my name at my address.
