Additional Notes
Photos at the end of the gallery show Dorothy when she arrived in Hampshire and was last driven. Current condition is shown in the garage photographs.
Reluctantly offered for sale to support a family member in remaining mobile. We had hoped to complete the restoration within the family, but it is now time for Dorothy to find a new custodian.
Dorothy has been part of our family for over 60 years, and we hope she will find an owner who will cherish her as we have.
Payment by cash on collection (or bank transfer by prior arrangement). Buyer to arrange collection.
This vehicle is also advertised elsewhere. Affectionately known as “Dorothy”, this 1961 Morris Minor 948cc saloon has remained in the same family since new and comes with a fully traceable history spanning over six decades.
Finished in black with red interior, Dorothy was purchased new in August 1961 by my great aunt, Dorothy deLozey, in Hertfordshire and remained her cherished car throughout her life.
When she passed away in 1984, my parents acquired the Morris Minor to keep her in the family. We named the car in her memory. My father invested considerable time and care bringing her back to life and drove her regularly around our village.
After my father stopped using her, Dorothy was stored in a dry garage attached to my parents’ home.
In later years she was gifted to my son — Dorothy’s great-great nephew — and moved to Hampshire, where he began a sympathetic restoration. She has not been driven since this work began.
Dorothy is now offered for sale ready for her next custodian to continue her story.
