Lotus Esprit Dry Sump Turbo 1981 ‘Essex Replica’ Spec. Finished in Essex Blue Metallic with full red leather interior.
Originally rolling off the production line in 1981. The car started life as an Essex Blue Metallic Dry Sump Turbo with full champagne leather. From factory the radio option was originally declined along with a request not to fit any decals or stripes. I can only presume these could have been the Panasonic roof mounted stereo & Essex Livery which the original owner chose not to go ahead with as there were a cost option.
Currently showing 69954 miles although I’m certain it has been round the clock and has covered 169954 miles from new. It is understood the original owner used this car as his daily driver covering over 20, 000 miles a year hence the mileage.
Showing just 4 previous owners which I s extremely low for a car of this age with the original owner having the car from new until roughly 2016.
I purchased the car summer 2021 as a project. The car had been stood in storage for sometime. Car had already had a lot of mechanical work undertaken by the previous owners including an engine rebuild along with new pistons & liners.
Under my ownership the car has had the following:
- Glass out professional respray in is original and correct Essex Blue Metallic
- Roof lining & sun visor retrim
- Both seats retrimmed with new foams etc
- Full Essex Spec livery/ decals
- Rear set of genuine compmotive alloys to match the 2 original fronts
- Very rare Panasonic Roof mounted stereo RM-E610
- Interior Carpets
- Door cards, dashboard & centre panels were still very good so they have been recoloured to match the seats.
- Original cylinder head sent off to Knights engine services to be reconditioned
- Engine was removed, stripped, checked & reassembled with all seals & belts replaced with new
I have since driven the car locally and can conclude the car drives and handles very well. Starts on the button, very responsive & I can see why the original owner used it as his daily.
Car comes with 2 folders containing a very good amount of history/ service records. Certificate of vehicle provenance & a detailed letter from the Lotus archives giving a nice, detailed history of the spec etc. 2 Keys present. Original boot bag also included.
This car is a true Essex replica with no expense spared making this happen. Dry Sump Turbo, correct Essex Blue from factory (not colour changed) along with the correct 4 stud compmotive alloys.
Just to confirm again this is an ESSEX REPLICA. This is NOT one of the real numbered Essex production cars.
Car now has historic vehicle status so both Tax & MOT Exempt.
