Description
1990 Saab 9000 CD Carlsson
An absolute unicorn in the Saab World, rarity that ensures you’ll likely be the only one at any car meet.
I have owned since December 2020, and during my ownership, no expense has been spared, Phil & Phil @ Aeromotive Saab always worked to the brief, if it needs it, do it!
Key Specs:
Engine: 2. 0L Full Pressure Turbo (B202)
Mileage: 166, 000 miles
Colour: Jet Black
Interior: Full leather with a fresh, professionally replaced headliner
Special Features: Factory sunroof, Carlsson body kit, New Blaupunkt Bremmen Car Play/ DAB retro look stereo.
Maintained exclusively at Aeromotive Sports and Performance in Batley, Leeds, this car has undergone extensive work in my ownership. Including:
Engine: Full cylinder head refurbishment with new gaskets, water pump, radiator, and thermostat.
Exhaust: Custom-fabricated stainless steel rear section with twin pipes—designed to mirror the original factory aesthetic—paired with a new front box.
Drivetrain: New clutch slave cylinder and release bearings (plus fresh fluids).
Handling: Full Polybush kit installed (front and rear) plus new brake pipes, clips, callipers, and fluid.
Engine Bay: Powder-coated cam cover and top engine mounts, new vacuum pipes, alternator belt, and gear linkage block.
Structure: Both front wings replaced, welding completed to the N/ S sill and wheel arch for this years MOT.
Interior: Steering wheel refurbished by Royal Steering Wheels apart from the Carlsson signature that i wanted leaving original. A complete new headliner has been installed (a notoriously difficult task in the CD model), including professional upholstery to the A and C pillars and the sunroof panel.
Misc. Replacement wiper arms, assorted interior switches, new battery, and cam cover breather.
This is a rare, sought after legend that has been saved from the typical pitfalls of 9000 ownership. It is a fast, comfortable, and incredibly charismatic, it turns heads everywhere it goes.
What needs doing?
The car would benefit from a full respray to bring it up to 'show quality' and some TLC to areas of the interior I haven't tackled yet, the upholstery on the door cards was next on my list.
I will be sad to see it go, after owning a 900, 3 x 95 Aero's, 2 x 9000 Aero's I know I have peaked and once this sells, I wont be having another or anything as special again. I have a young family and a motorhome that we love spending the weekends in, sadly, I cant give the Saab the time it deserves and the wife desperately wants the garage space.
