Description
This Renault MT 8. 3hp was my late fathers, it has four wheel brakes, 3forward and reverse gear. It starts, runs and drives really well for a 102 year old car.
I believe it is a smaller version of the NN having one door and a 2+2 (cosy!) rather than a full four seater sharing a lot of mechanical features and components, maybe incorrect in saying that there are less MT’s than NN’s ( sorry if I am incorrect).
It is very good condition for its age having been restored I believe around 1994 my father bought along with quite a lot of spares it from the chap who restored it.
My parents used the Renault for summer shows and took part in the Renault Freres rally’s to France on a couple of occasions on which it performed well and made it home without breakdowns.
My father had a complete set of new weather gear made including side screens and a tonneau, this does make the car very useable.
It comes with a fair amount of spares including two engines one of which my father had fully refurbished as a spare (just in case!) but never needed it.
The paintwork is generally very good with some of the panels brush painted(very well).
Underneath it is also in excellent condition, the Michelin tyres are like new albeit a few years old and have been kept out of sunlight while stored.
The carpets have been replaced and I think the seats are the original leather which has lovely patina without being torn. I inherited the Renault in 2017 and have only used it a few times, it drives well albeit a little sedate by todays standards.
When my father bought it he was given a little history, the original owner Josef Markovitz who we believe was a poultry/ bird dealer near Paris. It would appear he disappeared during the second world war.
