RS2000 Custom, flat-fronted rally car. Reg. March 1979.
Setup as a stage rally car some years ago, and used on some tarmac events by the previous owner, not been on gravel. 185bhp at the wheels (according to previous owner) it’s very quick, and loud!
It turns heads everywhere you go, only stop if you have time for conversation, as you get a lot of attention. Geometry checked and adjusted last year, and oils changed (less than 200 miles ago).
I’ve only had it a year but I’m not really using it as I expected to. We’ve done one competitive event in it (hillclimb) and it was first in class. Lots of development potential.
Very good solid shell, seam welded, big tunnel.
Pinto engine, done by Steve Mallinson.
Wosp high torque starter motor and new Bosch battery (in the boot) fitted in recent months.
Carbs Weber 45DC0E152. done by minisport.

4 linked axle by Bob Dowen, Panhard rod, Bilstein shocks, Slipper springs on rear
Bilstein shocks
Type 9 box, 5 speed. High 1st, close ratios, with Quaife straight cut gears done by K&N Transmissions.
Hydraulic clutch
Gartrac quick rack, World cup cross member
Twin cam front ARB with adjustable castor mountings, and double width bushes.
Rear axle is English axle built by Rally & Competition, Stokem with New diff 4. 44:1. (40:9) with
Quaife English axle kit.
Quaife ATB Limited Slip Diff (new in 2025)
Rally tec Carbon fibre bonnet, Carbon bumpers, Fibreglass boot
Poly windows and rear screen
Alloy fuel tank in boot, Twin fuel pumps
Welded in cage with removable side bars
Princess 4 pot brakes on front, on vented discs. Rear disk brakes, calipers Sierra / XR3.
Bias pedal box.
Hydraulic handbrake.
Toyo R888R tyres, new last year, with little use since.
Spare set of wheels with older Yoko tyres on.
4 x Cibie Super Oscar lamps with quick release mounts.
Catch tanks for coolant and oil fitted, so it’s eligible for hillclimbs and sprints.
Plumbed in fire extinguisher system and hand-held extinguisher (out of date for stage rally)
Motamec seats and TRS harnesses (nice but out of date for stage rally)
Intercom system (I’ve never tried it though)
Old MSA competition logbook (would need re-doing for new owner).

BAD BITS
It would benefit from some cosmetic work, but if you are rallying it, there’s not much point!
I had intended to replace the 2 front wings, they are not great as the previous owner rolled the arches (badly), and there is some bad paint blistering on the OSF wing. (see Photo), but I've not got to it yet.
I have a pair of new magnum wings and paint, which I will include with the sale if somewhere near the asking price.
