Description

FOR SALE: 1983 Jaguar XJS V12 H. E. –Excellent Example (80, 600 Miles) in really good condition with a beautiful colour combination. A real ‘head turner’.
The Pinnacle of 1980s British Luxury Grand Touring.
Manufactured in 1983, this stunning Jaguar XJS V12 H. E. (High Efficiency) is a perfect example of a properly cared-for classic, boasting a very low 80, 600 genuine miles. Finished in stunning Kingfisher Blue with a pristine, well-preserved blue leather interior, this car is ready to be cherished, driven, and enjoyed by a new owner.

Key Features & Condition:
The legendary 5. 3L V12 engine runs smoothly, starting instantly and idles perfectly. The high-efficiency "Fire Ball" engine is renowned for its smooth power delivery. The engine is clean and the car drives well with no areas for concern.

The Air conditioning has been recently upgraded to use modern gas.

The smooth-shifting 3-speed automatic transmission is faultless.

The bodywork is in excellent condition, with no evidence of rust or damage, the car underwent a full body restoration and re-paint in 2020 and has been garaged and covered since, apart from a couple of exercise trips out. Some very minor rust was found around the sills which only required a handful of small areas to be renovated by forming new metal inserts where necessary. (Photo supplied)

The paintwork remains spotless and retains a high gloss finish.

The brightwork is in good high polish condition apart from a very minor rust blemish on the front near side bumper quarter.

The original "Starfish" alloy wheels are excellent having been renovated in 2010.

The leather is in excellent condition retaining its colour well with no tears or significant wear
The dash has no cracks to the vinyl and the woodwork is unblemished with the exception of the lower centre panel which is showing some minor cracks.

The headlining is pristine.

The original Jaguar Clarion radio cassette with an electric telescopic Arial works well with no faults

All mechanical parts and comfort functions are working correctly apart from the door locks which need to be locked from inside and can be opened with the key.

The reserve cooling tank sometimes shows a dashboard light indicating low water level although the cooling is working perfectly and the levels are correct. I suspect this is a wiring loose connection that I just cannot locate.

The oil pressure indicator drops at low revs although I have had the oil pressure externally tested and it has been shown to be good.

The tyres are vintage and although fine for its current very limited use I would recommend they are replaced with new if the car is to be used regularly.

It has been garaged since my father purchased it in 1990 and it has not been taken out in the rain whenever possible.

MOT & Tax exempt (UK). Despite this it is MOT’d annually and the current MOT does not expire until March 2027

The car comes with a very interesting A500HKV registration for Jaguar enthusiasts. The registration number HKV 500 is famously associated with one of the three 1950 Jaguar XK120s that debuted at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car comes with a comprehensive history file, including original service books and invoices. It has been cherished and garaged throughout its life. Originally purchased in 1983 by a private buyer in Kenilworth it was sold after 49, 000 miles to its second owner in South Woodham Ferrers in January 1988. It’s 3rd owner in Burnham-on-Crouch bought it in February 1989 and kept it for 22 months before selling it to my Father in December 1990 with 66, 000 miles. In 2021 it transferred to me as part of his estate.
It’s original service book is fully stamped up to 71, 899 miles with the next mileage interval due at 82, 000 miles.
