Description
The MGA has to be one of the most delightful and easy to own British 1960's sports cars. HSL 316 was imported from the USA in 1999, this car was totally dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up by the first owner. A lovely 1960 MGA Roadster, finished in the Dove Grey with a red interior. Supplied with a new black hood, not yet fitted. Painted wire wheels.
The car was subsequently sold in 2020 and spent the next five years in a private collection and little used.
I acquired the car in 2025 and embarked on a thorough refurbishment and recommissioning regardless of cost, with bills totalling over £8, 000. I meticulously went through the parts manual to make sure nothing is missing or worn. New master and slave cylinders, Heater overhauled, Carburettors rebuilt by the Carburettor exchange, Gauges rebuilt, fully rewired, new radiator to original design, stainless exhaust, re-trimmed as required with new high quality carpets. Paint was refreshed. The underside is very clean and waxed, and the car has zero corrosion.
The result is a lovely very usable MGA. All the history from 1999 is present. This isn't a concourse car but definitely a lovely example and I'm sure one of the best currently available, in superb restored condition which can be used and enjoyed while still making a stir at any classic show.
I'm only selling as I've enjoyed it so much, I've bought another in need of attention.... which is the bit I love best.
So now HSL 316 is looking for a new home. The MGA offers amazing value for money in the current market. You get so much "bang for your buck" with an MGA, this car is priced to sell.
