1998 Rover 218 VVC 'Tomcat' Coupé, 56, 000 miles from new, very tidy, original and unmolested.
1. 8 VVC engine (143 bhp) with 5-speed manual gearbox - same engine as the Lotus Elise and MGF.
This car was purchased new by a retired gent, Mr Cyril Bailey, and kept by him for 20 years until his death in 2018 at the grand old age of 94. It then passed to his widow, before being owned by 3 members of the Rover Coupé Owners' Club, of whom I'm the 3rd.
The service book shows an impressive 21 stamps, at 2k, 6k, 10k, 14k, 17k, 19k, 22k, 25k, 28k, 30k, 32k, 34k, 37k, 39k, 40k, 41k, 43k, 44k, 46k, 49k & 52k miles. However, the bills were lost when Mrs Bailey passed away.
In addition, I have spent over £1, 600 in the last 2 years (with bills to prove), including a new cambelt, coil pack, spark plugs & leads, brake fluid, filters etc, plus fixes/ replacements for the common Rover Coupé weak points: throttle body, driver's window mechanism, boot latch.
This car has never failed an MOT - in fact, it's only ever had 2 different advisories in 20 tests!
As well as the standard power steering, electric windows & mirrors, remote central locking, and airbags, this car also has all the optional extras that were available on a VVC coupé, including full leather trim, aircon (still working), and Platinum Silver metallic paint.
Original supplying dealer (Dutton Forshaw of Blackpool) number plates, tax disc holder, rear window sticker, plus handbooks in their Rover-branded leather wallet.
The cigarette lighter and ashtray are unused.

The original storage bag for the removable glass targa tops is present, plus a spare pair of glass targa tops, and 2 sets of floormats - the original Rover Coupé ones (driver's mat worn through) and an as-new set of Rover Streetwise ones, which fit well.
4 matching Falken tyres with under 3, 000 miles on them, plus a new spare tyre.
Very reluctant sale due to a medical condition meaning I now need an automatic car.
