A stunning long wheelbase XJ6 4. 2L automatic, in the best colour combination: Squadron Blue and Tan leather interior.
I am selling this car very reluctantly due to changes in my work commitments. It has been very well maintained over the years, obviously with no expense spared. The engine has been rebuilt and she has had new brakes front and rear, new tyres, stainless steel exhaust, stake down kit and many other additions. There is also an original owners manual, along with plenty of paperwork and receipts. The leather interior and real wood trim is in exceptionally good condition and smells lovely.
Structurally the car is in very good condition and she drives beautifully, pulls nicely and sits straight on the road. All the electric windows work. The paintwork looks good; however there are a few patches of rust on the sills and wheel arches that will need fixing (see photo). All the glass is in good condition. The car has been fitted with an aftermarket period-style 1970's sunroof. There is also a modern, vintage-style radio/ CD player, with USB and bluetooth connectivity and four speakers, including two new Kicker front speakers (recently fitted) and a hands-free phone connection.
Both petrol tanks are in full working order. All the gauges work. The car has good oil pressure and excellent engine compression on every cylinder (see photos). She has been fitted with an electronic ignition and an aditional electric cooling fan. I still have the original points and these will be included in the sale. Also included will be a brand new set of rear seat belts (not yet fitted), a box of various parts that have come off the car over the years, some useful service items ( e. g. oil filter, classic car engine oil, new magnetic oil drain plug and copper washer, air filter and coolant). I also have two rear wing arch panels for anyone who wants to bring the car back to her former glory.
The original carpets are all in excellent condition, along with overmats.
I have recently fitted black and silver period number plates, front and rear (see photos).
The car is registered as 'historic' and therefore it is MOT and road tax exempt. The mileage is genuine, as documented in its MOT history, checkable via the registration number on the DVLA website. The last MOT expired on 16th October 2024.
The only real issue with this beautiful car currently is with the power steering. There is a fluid leak and a rubber seal needs replacing. This makes it not drivable at the moment, so it will need transporting to its new home.
I politely request that you do not make me any low offers. I have priced the car below what I believe is its true market value, purely due to the power steering issue.
If you have any questions please message me via the Car and Classic website in the first instance, as I work irregular hours. Many thanks. Mike. I looked for a very long time to find this lovely car. My wife and I have enjoyed it very much but we aren't able to use it as much these days. It needs to be used and appreciated, so it's time for someone else to enjoy this beautiful car. It is so nice to drive too.
