Description
For sale my very early 1964 pull handle MGB roadster in tartan red.
I have spent upwards of a hundred hours bringing the mechanicals of this lovely car up to a very high standard. The bodywork remains untouched and hasn’t seen work for at least 10 years.
As you can see in the pictures she looks very smart and even close up still looks great. However if you look closely in the usual places you will find the out defect and small spot of rust, as you would expect from an old classic that hasn’t had any bodywork for a long time. Personally I prefer to buy a car like this rather than one that has just had a re-spray covering up a load of dodgy bodywork underneath. Needless to say if the paintwork were immaculate the price would be considerably higher.
I have likely forgotten half of what I have done but here is a list from memory. New driver’s seat foam back. Recon steering rack. All new e10 safe fuel lines. New lower suspension wishbones and mounting bars. New rubber suspension bushes front and rear. New front brake callipers, discs, pads, stainless back plates and bearings. Recon shocks, stainless inner wing guards and flexi brake pipes. Rear axle removed and refurbished. Fuel tank removed and refurbished. Gas adjustable rear shocks. All new bushes to rear. Refurbished wire wheels in silver powder coat.
The engine is in particularly good order with excellent compression and drives very well. Overdrive gearbox works precisely and is nice and quiet. Hood and full toneau cover in good order.
The car came with a chrome boot rack, included in the sale. This has been overloaded in the past which has bent the boot lid on the LHS. I was going to buy another boot lid and have the two swapping them over as required. Very nice leather seats with red piping.
So in summary a very handsome car looking and driving in great condition. Mechanically near perfect, I would happily drive this car to the south of France tomorrow, but bodywork wise good but not perfect which is reflected in the price.
