1939 MG TA
Needs nothing, ready to enjoy!
Purchased in 2017 this charming TA has provided exceptional entertainment over the past 10 years, but the need for more seats means I am reluctantly offering it for sale. The engine was upgraded by Cuerden Classics MG Specialists in 2005 with an unleaded head. More recently the engine was fully rebuilt by Rees Brothers in 2019 with invoices on file totalling £19, 000! At the same time the MG received a light restoration by (it didn’t need much) and was reassembled and tested.
Originally built in 1939 it was amongst the last of the TAs built being number 2836 (the last was 3255) and it retains its original MPJG engine. Finished in Racing Green with Beige upholstery the MG is in lovely condition; presentable but not too good to use. There are minor areas of paint that are little flat, and some of the chrome parts show minor pitting. The dash is good with the full complement of Jaeger instruments all working fine. There is a thermostatic electric fan fitted, along with a stainless steel exhaust from the downpipe back.
The carpets were also replaced in 2019 and the seats remain in good condition with no splits or damage. The black hood was also replaced and it in remains in like new condition with no nicks or tears, erecting and stowing correctly. There is also a tonneau cover, but it has never been installed and will need the dot fasteners fitting -a nice weekend job for the new owner.
The MG drives well, with surprisingly accurate steering, perky acceleration and it stops well too! The 4 speed gearbox is nice to use, with no rattles, with synchro in third and top. I have driven it regularly when weather allows, mostly locally but further afield on occasion; it has always proved to be dependable.
Altogether a cracking little TA that is priced to sell (so I can buy a replacement) and is ready for immediate fun!
