Description
This 1954 MG TF is a matching numbers, original UK supplied right hand drive example accompanied by an exceptional 65 years of documented history.
Its extensive file includes historic MOT certificates and the original green folding registration document, offering a wonderful record of the car’s life.
The MG was selected by Corgi as the inspiration for its own die cast model. Both the full sized car and the miniature carry the same original registration number, NWX 818, and the boxed Corgi model will remain with the car.
A comprehensive restoration was completed in 2018, retaining original components wherever possible. The matching numbers engine and gearbox were fully rebuilt by respected MG specialists Brown and Gammons, while the beautiful red leather interior was completed by MG trim specialists Collingburns.
A new mohair hood, side screens and tonneau cover were also fitted as part of the restoration. In 2025, the engine was removed to allow the engine bay to be carefully refurbished, further enhancing the presentation of this exceptional example.
Rarely does an MG TF combine matching numbers, original UK provenance, such extensive documentation and a connection to one of Britain’s best known model makers. It is a car worthy of a significant collection, yet one that still deserves to be driven and enjoyed.
For its current owner, the attraction began with the MG’s remarkable backstory and, of course, those unmistakable looks.
It has since become part of his own story too. Showing the car has brought many memorable moments, but none more special than choosing it for his wedding day.
His favourite drives take him through old market towns, where it is easy to imagine similar MGs travelling those same streets more than seventy years ago.
Behind the wheel, every journey feels like an occasion. Even a simple trip to the shops becomes something to look forward to.
