THE DAIMLER 2. 5 V8/ V8-250 IS A FOUR-DOOR SALOON WHICH WAS PRODUCED BY THE DAIMLER COMPANY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM FROM 1962 TO 1969. IT WAS THE FIRST DAIMLER CAR TO BE BASED ON A JAGUAR PLATFORM, THE FIRST WITH A UNIT BODY, AND THE LAST TO FEATURE A DAIMLER ENGINE AFTER JAGUAR BOUGHT THE COMPANY FROM THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS COMPANY IN 1960. THE 2. 5 V8 WAS DAIMLER'S MOST POPULAR MODEL. THE ENGINE IS THE HEMISPHERICAL HEAD V8 DESIGNED BY EDWARD TURNER, FIRST USED IN THE DAIMLER SP250 SPORTS CAR.
THE DAIMLER V8-250 (1962-1969) IS A LUXURY COMPACT SALOON BASED ON THE JAGUAR MK2, FEATURING THE UNIQUE 2. 5-LITRE, 140 BHP DAIMLER V8 ENGINE. KNOWN AS “BITZA” DUE TO ITS MIX OF JAGUAR BODY AND DAIMLER POWER, IT WAS ACCLAIMED FOR ITS SMOOTH 110-112 MPH PERFORMANCE AND LUXURIOUS, WOOD-TRIMMED INTERIOR, YET IS NOW OFTEN MORE AFFORDABLE THAN ITS JAGUAR COUSINS.
PRODUCED FROM OCTOBER 1967 TO 1969, THE V8-250 WAS A MINOR FACELIFT AND RENAMING OF THE 2. 5 V8 SALOON AND DIFFERED IN RELATIVELY SMALL DETAILS: "SLIMLINE" BUMPERS AND OVER-RIDERS (SHARED WITH THE JAGUAR 240/ 340 RELABELLED AT THE SAME TIME), NEGATIVE-EARTH ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AN ALTERNATOR INSTEAD OF A DYNAMO AND TWIN AIR CLEANERS, ONE FOR EACH CARBURETTOR. OTHER NEW FEATURES INCLUDED PADDING OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, PADDED DOOR CAPPINGS AND VENTILATED LEATHER UPHOLSTERY, RECLINABLE SPLIT-BENCH FRONT SEATS AND A HEATED REAR WINDOW. POWER STEERING AND OVERDRIVE WERE OPTIONAL EXTRAS.
ASIDE FROM THE SMOOTHER AND MORE POWERFUL ENGINE AND A NUMBER OF EXTERNAL MARKERS THE DAIMLER V8-250 WAS SIMPLY A MORE LUXURIOUSLY FINISHED JAGUAR 240. THE 250'S PLACE IN THE JAGUAR RANGE WAS ALWAYS ILL-DEFINED. WHILST HISTORICALLY DAIMLER HAD BEEN A GENUINE LUXURY AND SUPER-LUXURY BRAND THE 250, THOUGH FAR BETTER EQUIPPED THAN THE BASE-MODEL JAGUAR 240. THE DAIMLER 250'S ENGINE, BEING A V8 (IN ITS HOME MARKET, A PRESTIGE FEATURE), PRODUCING 142 BHP (106 KW)—IN BETWEEN THE OUTPUTS OF THE 2. 4- AND 3. 4-LITRE SIX-CYLINDER ENGINES. THE V8-250 WAS A CAR WITH A HIGH PRESTIGE BADGE SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF ITS PARENT-COMPANY'S RANGE.

AS STATED THIS V8 250 IS WELL PRESENTED AND ORIGINAL WITH NO NASTY AFTER MARKET ADDITIONS. THE DAIMLER DRIVES AND STOPS GREAT, AND SUCH A PLEASURE TO DRIVE. TURNING HEADS WHEREVER IT TRAVELS AND NO WONDER GIVEN THE VERY FEW EXAMPLES EXAMPLES OUT THERE ON THE ROAD AND THE CAR HAVING RETAINED IT'S ORIGINAL BEAUTIFUL APPEARANCE..
ALL BODY PANELS ARE STRAIGHT AND TRUE. THERE ARE NO DENTS ETC. THE GLEAMING REGENCY RED PAINTWORK IS IN GOOD ORDER PROVIDING A DEEP SHINE.. THE LUXURY SALOON REMAINS WIND AND WATER TIGHT. THE ORIGINAL DAIMLER WHEELS WITH RINGS AND HUBCAPS SIT UPON MATCHING WHITEWALL TYRES WITH PLENTY OF TREAD.
THE INTERIOR IS ALSO IN GOOD ORDER, ORIGINAL, CLEAN AND UNCLUTTERED. ALL IS IN TACT, FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED, COMFORTABLE, PLEASANT TO THE EYE AND INDEED, A PLEASANT PLACE TO BE COSSETED.
THE CHASSIS AND UNDERCARRIAGE IS CLEAN AND SOLID IN ALL AREAS, AS ARE THE FLOOR PANS ETC. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ROT/ RUST ANYWHERE.
THE BOOT - AGAIN VERY CLEAN, SOLID AND UN-CLUTTERED.
ENGINE BAY - AS PER THE BOOT.
ENGINE - THE ENGINE IS RELIABLE, QUITE, AGILE AND RESPONSIVE, STARTING THE FIRST TIME OF ASKING EVERY TIME. IT SOUNDS JUST AS IT SHOULD THROUGH THE GEARBOX AND EXHAUST SYSTEM.
TRANSMISSION - THE AUTOMATIC COLUMN CHANGE GEAR BOX IS LIKE THE ENGINE, AGILE, RESPONSIVE AND SMOOTH TO THE CHANGE.
