1982 Golf C (G40 powered)
2 owner car (Uk owner from new 1982-2011, imported to ireland by myself in 2011). Car garaged all its life by previous owner and currently in dry storage. Shell has only 48000 miles since new.
Full restoration in 2020 including new front panel, new front wings (both outer and inner) and respray in original Gambia Red (La3 B. 1). Car has been fully undersealed as well.
Original 1. 1L Ea111 replaced with fully rebuilt 1. 3 G40 from 1992 polo. G-lader supercharger fully rebuilt, smaller pulley added and larger intercooler fitted. Only 1, 500 miles since rebuild and car used for shows only.
Original 4-speed replaced with 5-speed from polo.
Suspension is blueline coilovers all round
Brakes are mk2 Cavalier up front and original drum on rear with master cylinder from toyota glanza turbo.
Custom Stainless steel exhaust
Wheels are 15" 4x100 Centra Turbines that have been bodycoloured and centre caps available too. Tyres are matching Michelin 195x50x15.
Interior recently redone, featuring front Recaros and original rear bench recovered in NOS period houndstooth centres and leather bolsters. Recovered period BBS 4 spoke steering wheel.
Car is NCT exempt and currently in dry storage. This Car was bought with the plan that it was never to be messed with but the original 1. 1L engine was very underpowered and terrible on long journeys, so it became a project car with the aim to make a sleeper. I didnt want to go down the 1. 8T or vr6 route for the powerplant as I wanted it to handle like a mk1, so i decided on the G40 supercharged 1. 3L from the mk2 Polo. It is brilliant to drive and with 140Bhp it is really quick and always gets a smile from other road users as they dont expect it to keep up with modern traffic. Will happily sit at motorways speed limit with no fuss. Recaro interior was installed in 2024 and is so comfortable and makes all journeys a pleasure.
