Description
Fully sorted 1964 Ford Lotus Mk 1 Cortina race car based in the UK, finished in classic Ermine White with Sherwood Green detailing and is ready to race.
Originally developed as part of the iconic Ford–Lotus collaboration, the Lotus Cortina became one of the most successful and desirable competition saloons of its time in the 1960's. This particular example, was professionally converted to race specification in the late 1980s. The car was purchased by the previous owner who raced it with the HSCC in the mid 2010's. We purchased the car in 2023 and set about mechanically upgrading the car to race it successfully with historic racing clubs, CSCC (Classic K) and HRDC (Jack Sears).
The car is well prepared and benefits from significant recent investment. The Lotus Twin-Cam engine was rebuilt by Tim Swadkin with a dyno BHP read out of 184 and has covered approximately 2. 5 hours running time since. Supporting upgrades include a rebuilt gearbox with quaife internals and a new bell housing, AHR gear linkage assembly, and AHR braking system (calipers, discs and pads). The car sits on black 'Team Dynamics' pro classic alloy wheels and has been continually developed to a high standard by Steve Mole Motorsport.
Further recent work includes differential refresh, new prop shaft and ignition system overhaul. Safety equipment (seats, belts) are until 2029 and the fire extinguisher system was serviced in 2025.
The car delivers excellent balance and handling, making it both competitive and above all, fun!
The car previously held FIA papers (now expired) and is currently supplied with V5. A selection of running spares, Dunlop wheels and documented setup data are included.
Eligible for a wide range of historic race series including CSCC, CTCRC and HRDC, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-developed Lotus Cortina.
