Description
This is the 1975Honda 400F Launch model with swing arm-mounted passenger foot pegs in Light Ruby Red. Current Mileage is 49, 368. I have owned this bike for 6 years and in that time I have
Replaced the full wiring loom.
Replaced the ignition coils.
Replaced the wheels, with original patter DID wheels from the OEM.
Re-spoked the wheels with Stainless Steel spokes.
Replaced the Cam-Chain tensioner slipper.
Replaced all the gaskets and seals from the base up.
New Dunlop K82 tires (only done about 200miles on those) Avon-masters were not available.
Stripped and cleaned the carbs which have original brass inside them.
Replaced the front brake piston.
Replaced Chain and rear sprocket and added the black sprocket cover.
Replaced the fuse box.
Replaced Clutch and throttle cables.
I think that is about all. The bike is named Charlotte and rides as well as a 51year old bike should when not in concourse condition. First registered in March 1975 and looks mostly original to me. Except for the gaiters… I do have the kick-start arm for the bike however, it will not ‘kick-start’ because the splines are worn. My next job was to fix that.
The bike starts well provided you keep the plugs clean, the battery on a trickle charge and E5 in the tank. Runs very well and ticks over at 12-1500rpm. Brake pads, oil filter and air filter all good for a few seasons more.
Previous owner has added the Boyer-Bransden Micro Power Ignition Kit and I have an original Points set for the bike if you want to ‘go back’. There is also an original Stator, I misdiagnosed a repair and just kept the part. There are other small parts, nothing interesting just the ones you collect when you have a vintage bike.
Price is £4000 all day long, no offers. Reason for sale is I need a new bike to start training as a bike instructor and one bike in one bike out is the policy due to space in the garage.
