Description

A comprehensively restored 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3. 2 Targa with the desirable G50 five-speed gearbox — 1987 being the first year of the stronger Getrag 'box. This is a matching-numbers car that has been the subject of a full two-year, body-off restoration with over €72, 000 of documented work, and it presents and drives superbly. It's finished in period Porsche Beige Grey (Beigegrau, colour code 7510) over an exclusive Pepita houndstooth and black leather interior. In the interest of full honesty: during the restoration the car was refinished from its original black, and the cabin retrimmed from its original champagne leather into the Pepita combination — both beautifully executed and entirely in keeping with the period. The 3. 2-litre flat-six (type 930/ 25, 3, 164 cc) was completely rebuilt by Dutch marque specialist Hoekzema, with European-specification cylinders and pistons, new rings, all plain bearings, fresh camshaft chains and guides, connecting-rod bolts, nuts and bushings, a full cylinder-head overhaul, and new oil cooler and lines. It has since been fitted with a genuine Cargraphic Powerkit (Bosch GEN2 airflow sensor, sport air filter and Motronic DME chip) and a complete stainless-steel SSI exhaust with sport heat exchangers, for a documented output of around 260 PS. It also runs a limited-slip differential on 16-inch Fuchs forged alloys, with lightweight 3. 0 RS-style front and rear bumpers and composite engine-lid panels. Work carried out (all invoiced):Full engine rebuild — Hoekzema (approx. €19, 795)Bare-metal bodywork and repaint — Vince Paint Clinic (approx. €34, 862)Complete interior retrim including the Targa roof — Hoegee Autobekleding (approx. €10, 044)Cargraphic Powerkit, SSI exhaust, RS-style panels and parts (approx. €7, 725)The car has covered just 5, 423 km since the rebuild. As part of the restoration the Targa roof was completely overhauled, and the G50 gearbox and clutch were inspected, found to be in excellent order and retained unopened. It has recently been serviced in Spain: in October 2025 by MOTORTIZ (four new Michelin tyres, front and rear brake pads, fresh fluids, a gear-lever overhaul and a full geometry set-up), and in May 2026 by Racing Legends in Marbella (a full inspection and check-over plus a new rear driveshaft gaiter). It is sorted, running beautifully and ready to be enjoyed. Registration: the car is not currently registered in Spain — it was deregistered and exported from the Netherlands, so it's clean to export — and it has passed the Spanish histórico (classic) classification. I deliberately did not complete the Spanish ITV/ matriculation, as that triggers Spanish registration tax; the next owner can either register it in Spain or export it and register it in their own country very straightforwardly. The most recent roadworthiness certificate on file is the Dutch RDW inspection. The car is left-hand drive and located in Marbella, Spain. It comes with a full documentation pack: the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the complete set of restoration invoices and the recent service records. Viewings and independent inspections are very welcome. I bought this car because it's the 911 I always wanted: an air-cooled Targa with the good G50 gearbox, restored properly, and specified with real individuality rather than straight off the standard colour chart. The Beige Grey over Pepita houndstooth combination is what did it for me — a soft, period cream that looks completely different in every light, with a houndstooth interior that gives it a wonderful vintage, tailored feel. It turns heads everywhere without ever shouting. What makes it stand out is that it's both beautiful and genuinely usable. The Cargraphic Powerkit and SSI exhaust wake the 3. 2 up nicely — it pulls hard, sounds fantastic and has real character — while the RS-style details and Fuchs give it just the right amount of purpose. It's not a trailer queen or a nervous concours car; it's a properly sorted, freshly serviced 911 you can get in and drive. And as a Targa, that's exactly what you'll want to do. Roof off on a good road, it's one of the very best ways to enjoy an air-cooled 911 — the noise, the view, the sunshine. Living with it on the Costa del Sol, my favourite thing has been early runs up into the mountains around Ronda with the top out; it suits that kind of driving perfectly, and it draws a crowd wherever it's parked. It's a rare thing: a fully documented, individually specified, matching-numbers air-cooled Targa, restored without compromise and ready to enjoy from day one. I'm only selling because I'm relocating back to the UK — otherwise it wouldn't be going anywhere.
