Description
1996 VW Polo GLX in Pistachio Green. There can’t be many GLX’s left now, let alone in this condition and this colour. The GLX was the pre-cursor to the 16v, hence the 16v interior and bumpers. I’ve owned the car for 2 years, only selling as I’ve bought a new project and this is taking up valuable garage space. The previous owner who I bought it off used it to teach their family to drive, and before that was a commuter car (hence the slight marks on the boot and rear of the roof where a bike rack went). As you will see from the MOT history, this is a very honest and cared for car, with no mention of rust in the usual areas. In my ownership I have given the whole car a machine polish to make the paint pop, and taken it to shows, etc. It’s lovely to drive and has never let me down. The black stripe was added by a previous owner, but I like it so kept it on. There are some age related blemishes; car park ding on o/ s wing, dent in n/ s wing (done by me annoyingly) but 2 replacement used wings in the correct colour will come with the car. There is also a ripple on the o/ s rear arch from a previous owner. There is some sun scorching on the roof infront of the sunroof which I didn’t attempt with the machine polisher as didn’t want to cause further damage, and there is an area on the n/ s C pillar where it looks like someone has attempted a machine polish previously but isn’t very noticeable. The fuel cap also doesn’t stay open so a replacement will also be provided in the sale. The interior is in exceptional condition with no rips or tears, and solid bolsters. This is in completely standard guise, with working slide/ tilt sunroof, albeit a little stiff, but works perfectly well. The sunroof is a little whistly when driving along but doesn’t leak, and is perfectly ok to live with. I suspect in order to resolve fully it may need new seals which is something I never got round to attempting as it didn’t bother me that much. It has service history stamped in the book up to 2013, then partial onwards with some receipts. From 2024 onwards there is no service history as I did oil changes myself. It will be a real shame to see this go, and if I had the space I would keep it as it has potential to be a future classic given the trim level and colour. The wheels could do with a refurb but are in generally good condition. MOT to July 2027. Any questions please let me know.
