Description
This is Gerti our beloved and rare 1963 J2 Cotswold motor caravan in very useable condition. Includes hard to find workshop manual. Built in Gloucester by Kingscote and Stephen's Ltd, she would have been the Rolls Royce of Motorcaravans. Gertie is equipped with original oven hob and grill, sink, fridge (gas and 12 v), original gas light, toilet compartment with portaloo & sink. On board water tank. Original interior including the cocktail cabinet! The only exception is the seating (converts into a double bed) which has been upgraded to very comfortable thick memory foam and new covering. The original awning is included alongside a modern addition along with an over and under winter cover. The gas heater and light have been disconnected but could easily be recommissioned. The cab has been retrimmed and refurbished with new seating but does need new carpets, The BMC 1600 petrol engine was rebuilt by the previous owner and starts and runs very well. The brakes have been uprated with a servo and work very well. Drives well although not quick but always gets plenty of waves and smiles whenever she's out and about. Historic tax and MOT, where else will you find a fantastic camper exempt from tax and MOT. Remember Gertie is 63 years so expect a few wrinkles. Serious buyers only, no time wasters or tyre kickers please. Only selling due to other priorities. Offers considered.
We bought Gertie for weekends away or day trips to the beach. Her kitchen means you can easily put together a meal or simply make a cup of tea. Gertie has been to a couple of local classic car shows where she is greatly admired. Be ready for smiles and waves when driving her and interest when parked up. We have loved showing her off to the world but we have other priorities at present and it’s time for someone else to have fun in her.
