Description

For sale is an exceptional ** 1989 Porsche 928 S4**, originally from California, with just ** 20, 609 km (12, 806 miles)** from new. One of the car’s greatest advantages is its ** complete absence of rust**, as well as the fact that it was purchased directly from its ** first owner in the USA**.

This is certainly not a typical Porsche 928 currently available on the market. The car combines ** exceptionally low mileage with a remarkable state of preservation of the underbody, suspension and mechanical components**. Its California history has made a tremendous difference – the dry climate has allowed the body and chassis to remain in outstanding condition.

The underbody is exceptionally well preserved. Bolts, suspension components and the exhaust system show none of the corrosion normally associated with a car more than 35 years old. The brake discs and calipers are also in remarkable condition and provide further evidence of the car’s extremely limited use.

### Only 20, 609 km from new

The car has covered just ** 12, 806 miles, equivalent to 20, 609 km**. The mileage is, of course, documented.

The condition of the individual components is entirely consistent with such low mileage. This makes the car particularly interesting from a collector’s perspective – finding a Porsche 928 of this age with little more than 20, 000 km from new, while also having spent most of its life in the dry California climate, is becoming increasingly difficult.

### History and work carried out

The car was imported from the USA following a minor fire in the engine compartment. The fire was caused by an electrical short circuit resulting from rodent activity. I even have a photograph of the culprit responsible for the fire – it actually made the journey to Poland together with the car. :)

The repair provided an opportunity to carry out ** extensive servicing and a thorough mechanical inspection of the vehicle**.

The engine was removed and carefully inspected. The following work was carried out:

* valve covers and intake manifold were refurbished,
* all upper engine gaskets were replaced,
* timing belt, tensioners and accessory belts were replaced as a preventive measure,
* the complete engine-compartment wiring harness was replaced,
* the radiator was replaced,
* the cooling fans were replaced,
* expansion tanks and other necessary cooling-system components were replaced,
* the engine compartment and hood were professionally refinished and repainted.

Wherever possible, ** the car’s original components were retained**, including the pumps, alternator and air-conditioning compressor. The objective was never to modify or modernise the car, but rather to return it to the proper condition while preserving the highest possible degree of originality.

### Bodywork

In my assessment, ** the vast majority of the bodywork still retains its original factory paint**. The driver’s door may possibly be an exception, although I have not been able to establish this with certainty. There are no signs that the door has ever been removed. These cars were originally painted by hand, which makes determining this conclusively even more difficult.

The hood has been replaced and repainted.

The car is fitted with ** Pirelli P Zero tyres manufactured in 2022**, which have covered approximately 500 km.

### A collector-grade example

The greatest value of this Porsche lies in a combination of qualities that are extremely difficult to find in a single car:

** 1989 model year, just 20, 609 km from new, California provenance, absolutely no corrosion, an exceptionally well-preserved underbody and a very high degree of originality.**

This is a car for someone looking for a Porsche 928 not only to drive and enjoy, but above all as a ** classic for a collection and long-term ownership**. The car naturally meets the criteria for historic vehicle registration, and you will be hard-pressed to find any non-original parts on it.

The condition of the underbody, suspension, brakes and exhaust system is perhaps the best indication of just how unusually well preserved this particular example is.

** A Porsche 928 S4 in this condition, with little more than 20, 000 km from new, is becoming increasingly difficult to find today.**

Viewings and enquiries are welcome. Only 12, 806 miles (20, 609 km) from new – exceptionally low and documented mileage.

California car – spent its life in a dry climate, which has preserved the body, chassis and mechanical components remarkably well.

Absolutely rust-free – no corrosion on the underbody, suspension components, bolts or exhaust system.

Purchased directly from its first US owner – a rare and desirable ownership history.

Exceptional collector-grade condition – the underbody looks extraordinary for a car built in 1989 and clearly reflects its extremely limited use.

Very high degree of originality – original components were retained wherever possible during the refurbishment.

Extensively mechanically serviced – including timing belt, tensioners, gaskets, wiring harness and cooling-system components.

Mostly original factory paint – the majority of the bodywork is believed to retain its original finish.

Pirelli P Zero tyres from 2022 – with only approximately 500 km of use.

A genuinely difficult 928 S4 to replace – the combination of extremely low mileage, California provenance, zero rust and originality makes this a particularly rare example.

My favourite feature is its incredible state of preservation – especially underneath the car, where the condition of the suspension, brakes, exhaust and hardware is almost unbelievable for a 35+ year-old Porsche.

A true collector’s Porsche that can still be enjoyed on the road – an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a 928 to keep and preserve for many years.
