Description
1970 Austin 1000 Pickup. Fully restored between 2018 and 2023. This vehicle was supplied new in 1970 From Morris Garages in Newbury to Littlecote House in Hungerford then owned by Mr Seaton Wills. Used by the Gaming and Fisheries manager until 1977. The vehicle then went to Inkpen near Hungerford until 1984, from there it was sold to a customer in Kintbury near Hungerford were it stayed until 2005. From 2005 to 2018 it resided in Thatcham near Newbury. I purchased the vehicle as a non runner, fuel tank had been removed. Initially the aim was an MOT and use it. Unfortunately it required a lot of attention underneath so a full restoration followed. I have used as many original parts as possible, engine gearbox and all running gear. I replaced one front wing and completely stripped the body to realign the pickup bed and tailgate. All new brakes, exhaust, leaf springs and some suspension parts. Reupholstered the two seats with original fabric. Some rewiring and complete engine service. Full respray. Original canvas tilt factory fitted wood was restained. Inner pickup bed panel hand made and fitted. Grille, internal panels and wheels painted in cream. We have attended many shows over the past three years with a lot of appreciation for restoring a local vehicle. The Austin is desperate for original signwriting as a period correct logo or as an advertising vehicle. Looks and drives superbly.
