Description

1974 Honda CB125S – 5, 530 Miles Showing – Recommissioned – UK Registered£2, 695A lovely and very usable 1974 Honda CB125S, showing just 5, 530 miles. I imported the bike from the USA in 2020 and it is now fully UK registered, with the V5C in my name. I have owned it for around six years and, after importing it, decided to have it properly recommissioned so that it could be ridden and enjoyed rather than simply displayed. Extensive recommissioningIn September 2023 the bike went to Richmond Classic Motorcycle Restorations, where I spent £958. 37 on a comprehensive recommissioning. I have the detailed invoice for this work. Work included:- New front and rear tyres- New inner tubes and rim tapes- New rear shock absorbers- New rear drive chain- New complete exhaust system- New seat- New side panels- New indicators- New indicator flasher relay- New headlight unit- New front fork gaiters and seals- New front brake cable- Front brake reworked- New rear brake shoes and rear hub reworked- Electrical and charging-system work- Replacement alternator- New tank mounting rubbers- New footrest, gear lever and kick-start rubbers- Pillion footrests fitted- Oil changed- New spark plugThe bike has subsequently also had a new battery and new carburettor, and a spare carburettor is included with the sale. It has covered only approximately 100 miles since the recommissioning work. Starts, runs and rides wellThe Honda starts well, runs and rides nicely and goes through the gears as it should. These little Honda singles are wonderfully simple, lightweight classic motorcycles and great fun on country roads. ConditionI want to describe the bike accurately. This is not a concours restoration. It is a very presentable, usable 52-year-old Honda which retains plenty of genuine age and character. There are age-related marks and patina, including scratches, chips and cracking to the tank paint/ graphics and some cosmetic wear and oxidation to the engine cases. The replacement side panels are also a slightly different shade of metallic blue to the tank. I've deliberately included close-up photographs showing these areas so that prospective buyers can see the condition properly. Personally, I think the patina suits the bike. It hasn't been cosmetically over-restored and still looks and feels like a genuine 1970s Honda. The chrome, wheels, seat and exhaust all present very nicely and overall it is a very attractive little classic. History- 1974 Honda CB125S- 5, 530 miles showing- Imported from the USA by me in 2020- UK registered- V5C present and in my name- £958. 37 professional recommissioning carried out in September 2023- Approximately 100 miles covered since- New battery- New carburettor- Spare carburettor included- Starts, runs and rides wellIt has been a lovely bike to own and always attracts attention when it's out, but it simply isn't getting enough use now and I'd rather it went to someone who will enjoy it.£2, 795Viewing is very welcome and I'm happy to show the bike running from cold. Genuine enquiries and sensible offers welcome. I bought this CB125S because I've always loved the early 1970s Honda singles. They're beautifully simple, incredibly light, and have a charm that modern motorcycles just don't have. This one caught my eye in the USA because it was an honest, low-mileage bike that deserved saving. Rather than over-restore it, I wanted to make it a reliable, usable classic. I imported it to the UK in 2020, had it professionally recommissioned, and it's covered only around 100 miles since. It starts easily, rides really nicely, and is exactly the sort of bike that makes you want to take the long way home. What I love most about it is the way it makes people smile. Whether it's parked outside a café or ridden along country roads, it attracts attention from people who owned one in the 1970s or always wanted one. It's a genuine, characterful little Honda with plenty of original patina, and I think it's all the better for it.
