DUCATI ST4 YELLOW 2001 47, 000 miles - Only 3 Owners (including me)
I have owned this Ducati for 7 years, during which time I have added around 5000 miles to the odometer.
I bought the Ducati from a University professor who had owned it since it was nearly new.
The complete MOT history, service documents and invoices, handbooks, and original toolkit come with the bike.
When I acquired the bike I had the rear suspension professonally rebuilt using a custom Hagon shock and coilover. Oil, coolant, brake fluid have all been changed since. Front discs and pads and front tyre were also replaced. A belt change was carried out at 41, 845 miles. The tyres are Avon 3D Ultra Sport (AV79 & AV80) with plenty of tread. They really suit the bike with great feedback and stability.
The bike comes with the orignal Ducati panniers and their mounting system (which is easily removed if you don't require the panniers) plus the Baglux tankbag system that also protects the tank paintwork.
The overall condition of the bike is very good. There are some age related marks (scratch on the RH pannier and on RH fairing (when I dropped it at a standstill) and two very small cracks on the LH fairing (when a work colleague reversed into the bike whilst trying to park!). It is now 25 years old, so there is the odd chip and scuff if you look closely.
The bike has a Datatool 4 Alarm system, two keys and two alarm fobs. Apart from the rear shock the bike is completely original, including the exhausts.
I have enjoyed long and short journeys with the Ducati and it has never let me down. This Ducati Sports Tourer wears its age very well. It is still a fabulous ride and full of character. Having owned a quite a number of v-twins, but never a Ducati, I had a feeling this bike would suit me, and judging by how long I have owned it, that was the case.
It is compact, has (more than) sufficient power and is totally analogue. As a concession to modernity it has electonic fuel injection and ignition... which means it always starts.
Finding the right settings for the front suspension took a while, but now it's really dialled in for my weight and riding style, feeling secure and full of feel.
Despite the above, it is time to move on and I hope the next owner will enjoy it as much as I have.
