Rare 1949 Land Rover 80" Series 1 – LHD "Behind Grille" model for sale.
An exceptional opportunity for collectors and restorers alike: an original Left-Hand Drive (LHD) Series 1, built in September 1949. Featuring the highly sought-after early light behind grille" (full grille) configuration, this early 80" has been safely barn-stored for over 25 years, making it the ideal candidate for a complete restoration or a character-rich patina build.
Key Features are:
• Driveline: Fitted with it's original 1595cc IOE engine which is very smooth-running, mated to the correct freewheel gearbox. Starts and drives but no brakes (brakes require attention/ rebuild). Engine + gearbox are matching numbers.
• Chassis: Basicly solid chassis which requires some welding. Rear crossmember needs replacing and some minor repairs. Chassis is unwelded.
• Bulkhead: Bulkhead requiring welding in the usual places.
• Body: The bodywork is in a good usable, honest condition. All complete and ready to restore or to keep a nice patina.
• Original Details: Highly complete interior retaining rare original features, including the full dashboard assembly and horn/ dip switch.
LHD "full grille" models in this condition rarely come to market in Europe. A complete, solid project with genuine history. Does come with paperwork, import documents and import duties paid.
