2018 BMW i3 – 18, 857 Miles – BMW Service History – £9, 750
An exceptionally low-mileage 2018 BMW i3 in very good overall condition, having covered only 18, 857 miles.
The car was formerly owned by the Surrey police force. I am the second owner. My understanding is that it was used for non-operational or administrative purposes. It has clearly had very limited use before us, and comes with service history print out from Cotswold BMW showing that it was serviced every year until 2025 at BMW in Guildford—considerably more frequently than the normal two-year servicing schedule. The servicing details are available/ accessible on the BMW my BMW app and via the onboard computer. A new Heat Exchanger fitted by BMW specialist Pritchards in Gloucester in 2025.
On the present schedule, its next service is not due until approximately October 2027.
The car drives extremely well. It is an excellent, economical electric vehicle, with a range extender thus eliminating range anxiety. As our first electric car this was very important to us. It's also great fun to drive. Reminds me of the original minis and how they felt to drive back in the day, although the i3 is considerably quicker off the mark of course. It is in reasonably good cosmetic condition for its age, although there are a few scuffs and ordinary marks around the bodywork, which I have taken into account in the asking price. I have tried to describe it honestly and am happy for prospective buyers to inspect it carefully.

This is our first foray into electric motoring, which is why the range extender was vital for us. Its blue colour combination reminds me of a BMW M series and which we thought really made it look great.
It is a great fun drive and fabulously economical. Its range when fully charged is about 150 miles.
I was particularly attracted to the i3 as I feel it's a future classic.
It has fabulously attractive double opening doors making getting in and out a doddle. Also, I am a huge admirer of its construction and its safety features; the i3 is compared to a McLaren because it features a central carbon fibre passenger cell (or "tub"), a structural design typically reserved for elite supercars. While almost all normal commuter cars are built from stamped steel or aluminum, the i3 was engineered with a "LifeDrive" architecture. This architecture pairs a lightweight aluminum rolling chassis (the Drive Module) with a pure carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) mono-cage passenger cell (the Life Module). Because the i3’s cabin is rigid, BMW didn't need to add a heavy steel B-pillar (the vertical support between the front and rear doors). This enabled them to design the car's iconic rear-hinged "coach doors" while maintaining a rock-solid chassis. As I say as well as being hugely practical it looks great.
Being ex police it had an excellent service history, service by BMW Guildford annually. BMW Cotswolds checked it out for us in July and provided me with a print out of its service history, from whom I learned that the service requirement is only once every two years, so well looked after by Surrey Police. The only glitch was having to replace the heat exchanger shortly after we bought it, Pritchards the BMW specialist in Gloucester fitted a new one for us. So that's one thing you won't need to worry about. BMW Cotswolds did a battery health check on the main battery which is in excellent condition. The ordinary starter battery we had replaced when it had its BMW health check in July.
All in all we love it.
