Description
This car has been meticulously restored over 15 years, having been off the road in storage since the 1970’s. Everything has been rebuilt or replaced to a very high standard apart from the rear axle. Engine rebuilt with new mains, big ends, pistons and liners, oil pump, valves and seats, springs, steel conrods, rebuilt dynamo, starter, new distributor, new electrics and rebuilt instruments throughout. Radiator pressure tested and cleaned. The Moss gearbox has been rebuilt with new bearings and gears where needed. New clutch. New brake linings. Springs re-tempered and sliding bearings renewed and re-set. All 5 wheels checked, re-spoked where needed and powder-coated. 5 new Blockley tyres. Body repaired by James Sidwell with new A-and B-post mountings, sills, door skins, spare wheel door skins, then repainted in 2-pack Bentley Silver Tempest. New chrome throughout, Ashwater Forge and Derby Plating, Lucas P100’s by Genius of the Lamp. The original red leather has been restored and the rest of the interior replaced. The wood has been re-veneered and re-finished and looks stunning. The car runs and drives and has completed 30 miles post restoration. The restoration has been done with the assistance and oversight of a well-known Mark IV expert, and so has been done properly. It does need minor work to complete, and I no longer have the time to do this having bought an XK140. It is being offered for sale for a tiny fraction of the cost of its very detailed restoration. There is a spare complete engine and quantity of other spares available.
The design of the car is beautiful and very eye-catching. The colour suits it very well, and sets off the fabulous chrome work. The interior is elegant, plush and gorgeous, the seats surprisingly comfortable. I had always wanted a Mark IV and have not been disappointed.
