Here for sale, my 1973 Volvo 1800ES, auto, in original California white (42).
I had wanted one of these, specifically an ES not the coupe for many years but the time has finally come to move on now to new ground.
Since buying the car I’ve brought it fully up to standard, it’s totally reliable and I may use it on a 500 mile round trip next weekend. To that end, if anyone has genuine interest in the car but doesn’t want to travel all the way to Oban, I’ll be in north east England around the weekend of Saturday the 26th September.
Engine, gearbox, differential brakes and steering are all good although you must remember these were originally designed in the 1960s. The bodywork is sound, not a patchwork quilt and the interior complete with newly recovered front seats, fully working dash (the clock is a little lazy), modern classic style BT, DAB, radio. The sunroof doesn’t leak and is a great addition for a sunny day.
It’s VED and MoT exempt of course and classic insurance costs me around £125/ year.
Twice I’ve advertised the car and twice now I’ve taken the advert down as I love the car and decided I couldn’t part with it so be quick if you want a genuine, usable, practical Volvo but please no more "not sure if I want one can I come and look and compare with some other cars I might want". Thank you.
