Description
Fiat 124 sport spider 1975 usa imported in 2017, the car was then sent to the body shop to have a full respray and American reflectors removed and indicators added also top line chrome removed to retore to basic bottom chrome trim and original lines.
The car had its very heavy bumpers removed which lifted the suspension they were so heavy, so spax adjustable suspension was installed all round which are adjustable.
Usa smog pump and relevant parts removed this included going to a single points setup.
Euro spec bumpers were sourced and front fitted to the car, headlights were changed to uk spec.
The last and 1st uk owner then put it into storage as he confirmed to me that he could never get it to run right.
I purchased the car after selling my mgb i wanted something with a bit more flare and Carisma and it looked beautiful.
I started the recommission i got a mechanic that i have used over the years to go through the whole car starting with cam belt, water pump, drain petrol tank clean lines add additional fuel filter and a pressure regulator, change engine gearbox and diff oils, dizzy cap rota arm fit a swiftune condenser plugs and points and a new battery was fitted also a new master cylinder was fitted and new fluid, also fitted a new clutch cable
4 new tyres fitted the car has has a new starter motor , battery and coil
The car was still not quite right so i decided to go back to a factory carburettor and ordered a refurbished 32adf weber form Italy which was the original one fitted to the car adjusted the timing to be in-between usa and euro as the usa models run slightly different camshaft profiles and a big smile on my face runs really well goes through all the gears and pulls really well , rear wheel bearings replaced, all new radiator hoses and external thermosat , windscreen wiper motor removed and cleaned new earth connected work well , have fitted new door panels and also dash seat consul
please remember that the car is over 50 years old it will require ongoing maintenace
the next steps for a new owner is probably new carpets and insulation it does seem to be lacking this is a winter job if the car does not sell thats my next job
Observations
gauges 50 years old and don't give accurate readings
slight play in steering
heater control vale needs to be replaced £32 on various site
just done 100 miles in it and it is a pleasure and wherever you park people stop and have a look and comment
have a folder full of history from usa and all bills and parts fitted this yaer
Right i have spent alot of money on this as you can imagine i am in negotiations for a classic ford so would like to sell as dont have storage for both saying that cant buy the ford till this sells

alos have rear bumpers but not in great conditon all brackets the kits cost £250 bumpers are expensive i perfer the car without but upto you
