Description
My GT40 Replica completed in 2019. The car is built on a GT Racing chassis with a Ford Coyote engine mated to a 01E 6 speed gearbox with a Quaife ATB diff. Sadly I do not get to drive the car now and for the last two years has only driven to the MOT station and back, the car otherwise lives in a nice warm garage. The car has ventured to a couple of race circuits where it behaved impeccably and provided so much joy. The car is a great love of mine and the decision to sell has been a difficult one.
I began the build in 2014 and quickly discovered that a GT40 replica is definitely not a kit car. The car has Hi Spec 6 pot calipers and 325mm discs with independent hydraulic systems for front and rear, 17" Halibrand style knock on rims and Pirelli P Zero tyres. The parking brake is a Hi Spec electric system. The front suspension is on poly bushes, the rear is on rod ends that are fitted with gaiters. The fuel system is very much simplified from the normal setup and has only one Walbro type fuel pump mounted behind a trap baffle at the rear of the left tank , the tanks are linked via a -12 pipe. The fuel system requires no input from the driver (other than to regulate delivery with the right foot). Seating is very comfortable and is based on the shape of a Lotus Exige seat, fabricated in two parts from aluminium fabrication and covered in alcantara. The seats are very low profile and allow taller drivers. The car has a role cage that is not intrusive even to a taller driver, I am 6' tall. There are two braces added to the roll cage that extend from the top of the hoop to the rear of the pontoons in the engine bay. The car has a built in fire extinguisher system that is focused on the engine bay and is controlled electronically. The dashboard has a ECU type connector to allow easier maintenance or modification of the electrical systems. Steering is via a Corsa electric column that has a DC Electronics auto speed control unit fitted and the car has an electronic battery isolator. Rear view is via a traditional rear view mirror or a video system with the monitor mounted to the right of the steering wheel, door mirrors are both adjustable from the cockpit. The car has an AC system that frankly was probably not required. The car has a tracker for insurance purposes. Every system on the car is documented for clarity and maintenance. Any potential buyer would be invited to an extensive viewing and may receive tea and cake.
