Engine originally purchased in Germany in reasonable condition, though it had various faults. So I completely stripped it down and fitted all new parts sourced from many different countries, and had many components chrome-plated as well. The engine runs perfectly with a VAPE electronic ignition system, and after many changes to the carburettors/ air jets and needles it's running spot on. All in all, the engine is honest and I'm selling it for health reasons.
A bit of youthful nostalgia really – from the age of 12 I've owned and ridden many mopeds and later dirt bikes, and during that time I did plenty of repairs on road and cross bikes. Now with plenty of time on my hands since retiring, I wanted something to keep me occupied. I've spent a year working on this engine and initially fitted expansion pipes, but I removed them because of the noise and the fit wasn't quite right. So I've gone back to the standard pipes.
