I am reluctantly selling my 1972 Mercedes coupe due to buying another vintage Mercedes to add to my collection. I have owned this car for just under 18 years. It has been lovingly looked after with no expense spared by an excellent independent Mercedes specialist in London using Mercedes Benz original parts which still for the most part are available (as Mercedes Benz still make the parts primarily due to pressure applied by German based collectors of their cars). This car had the engine reconditioned 30, 000 miles/ approximately 11 years ago with new cylinder linings etc at significant expense which means unlike most other W114's it has close to the original BHP and performance which is quite exceptional for it's age. During my ownership every belt, hose etc has been changed. It has a recent reconditioned radiator. It has a Full Service History since the engine overhaul in an original W114 service book. It is extremely reliable, smooth and comfortable to drive. It comes with headrests which is rare for a 1972 coupe, most do not have them. It has a working electric sunroof with a manual closing mechanism in the boot which also works and allows the sunroof to be shut in an emergency. It has an excellent interior in a rare dark brown colour in MB tex which looks wonderful. There are no tears in the upholstery. The dashboard has no cracks. It has wonderful condition wood work on the dashboard. It has chrome surround within which the gear leaver sits that lights up at night revealing 'P for Park', etc which was only added to coupes. It has a huge boot. It has full headroom in the back and unlike modern MB coupes can sit 4 in comfort. It is a full size coupe. I installed rear seat belts 18 years ago. It has been waxoyled underneath and is kept under cover. I drove to Wales in it recently, it is extremely trustworthy as used every 2 weeks or so. As kept in central London where generally roads are clean and unsalted it has helped preserve it's great condition. The bodywork is in very good condition as you can see. This is not however a concourse car it is used by myself regularly.
When new the 250CE was twice the price of an E type Jaguar and was driven by rock stars. See photo of Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones with his 250CE. My mechanic loves driving this car and says it's so much superior to the Pagoda in terms of comfort and handling.
Made in Germany for UK market. Wonderful smooth straight six engine. I have stamped service book as above as well as original owners manual.
