Description
1950 Morris Minor Lowlight saloon in need of light recommissioning as been stood for 10 years or so, but it does run, drive and stop although the brakes will need checking over and a new set of tyres before road use!
This was my late Fathers pride and joy, he had owned it for nearly 40 years, over half the car's life!
He discovered it in a lean to garage back in 1986 and then it was put back on the road and used as a rolling restoration.
When found it was fitted with A-series running gear, but the engine and gearbox have been put back to side valve units, the rest is still A-series based.
The main shell of the body is still wearing its thick coat of black brush applied paint, but all the detachable panels were resprayed and have polished up ok as the pictures will show although there are some imperfections showing through as can only be expected.
The first 6 pictures show what it is like now with a wash and quick hand polish, the rest of the pictures are from when it was removed from its slumber.
All the chrome was re-plated at great expense about 30 years ago and still looks good now.
The interior is tatty but serviceable, the seats are a bit of a mis-match but of the right style, the headlining is original but does have a tear and age related marks and the carpets are household offcuts!
This is the ideal winter project for someone who wants something to tinker with and not get too deeply involved as it needs very little to get it back out on the road where it belongs.
I have the V5c in my name and it is registered as 1956 as it was exported to Malaysia as new before returning in 1956.
Viewing and a short test run on a private driveway are possible by arrangement near Verwood, Dorset.
