The Jaguar S-Type R has always stood out to me because it offers something genuinely different from other performance saloons of its era. It combines traditional Jaguar styling and luxury with a 4. 2-litre supercharged V8 producing around 400bhp, making it both refined and seriously quick.
I bought the car because I wanted something with real character, a car that feels special every time you get behind the wheel but is still comfortable and effortless to drive. The S-Type R manages to be understated while having huge performance available when you want it.
What makes it particularly special today is its rarity. You simply don’t see many S-Type Rs on the road anymore, especially compared with some of its German rivals from the same period. It has a distinctive look, a beautiful interior and that unmistakable supercharged V8.
My favourite thing about the car has to be the engine. The combination of the V8 sound, supercharger and effortless power makes every drive feel like an occasion. It’s a proper old-school performance Jaguar and, in my opinion, a brilliant example of the type of car we’re unlikely to see made again. With Jaguar now shifting production away from petrol and diesel, this car has become an enduring classic.
