Here we have for sale my 2005 MG ZR 160 in XPower grey. I’ve had the car for 2 years, it’s done 74, 000 miles, 4, 000 of which have been in my ownership. It’s got an MOT until Aug 27 and a decent folder of history.
Exterior: The outside of the car presents very well for its age ! There isn’t a door ding or dent anywhere and it’s got the best paintwork of any car I’ve owned. The bonnet, wings and front bumper have all been PPF’ed by the previous owner so is near on immaculate.
Interior: Inside the car is decent bearing in mind it’s a late MG Rover product, the bolster on the drivers seat is showing a little bit of wear and the same can be said for the steering wheel but overall it’s quite nice inside. All of the electrics work etc and all the switchgear is in good condition. I fitted a Pioneer head unit which has Bluetooth and stuff and the speakers are surprisingly good. It’s got original mats fitted I believe, but they could do with replacing. I replaced the missing headliner earlier in the year, but the heatwaves we had meant the glue has failed headliner is sagging, but in my opinion it doesn’t look so bad and you can see it in the photos.
Engine/ drivetrain: The engine is very strong, it had a full top end rebuild in 2021 at 54k including head gasket and then had the cambelt replaced in 2024 before I took ownership. I’ve serviced it since then including spark plugs and a coolant change. I had it on the dyno I at my old work and produced 158 at the fly, so safe to say it’s still making what was quoted 21 years ago. The clutch and gearbox are sound. It’s got EBC front discs and pads with HEL braided lines and it’s just had rear discs and pads, caliper and a wheel bearing. The tyres all have plenty of tread, it’s got Michelin pilot sports on the front and Toyos on the rear and the wheels are in really nice condition.
As with any ZR, it’s got a slight bubbling on the drivers front wing and a light bit of rust on one of the wheel arch, both of which are pictured. But, that’s where it stops from what I can see, it’s a very very clean and solid car underneath, I have some and can get some more photos if interested.
Reason for sale as I’m trying to downsize my car collection. I haven’t used it as much as I should’ve done so I’d like it to go to someone who will actually drive the car and is looking for a very presentable and cool little car that gets a proper shove on. I have that will also go with the car a full set of brand new wishbones and drop links, all fitted with Powerflex polybushes and rear beam polybushes, Dark Ice Designs gear shift linkage upgrade and a spare clutch cable.
