1995 Citroen Xantia 1. 9TD SX For sale
2 previous owners (1st owner for 33 years), originating from Coventry.
In good cosmetic and very good mechanical condition, having recently undergone:
Heater Matrix replacement;
Clutch + clip replacement;
Timing belt and pulley replacements;
Full service;
4 new Kumho Ecowing ES31s
All works were completed by Chevronics, with invoices.
All suspension settings work as expected, and the cars ride is unmatched with the hydraulic system in good form. The engine pulls as expected from an older turbo diesel with the typical turbo lag followed by a short turbo burst. It performs well on long journeys, having completed many runs up and down the M54 and M6 without missing a beat, and returning ~50-55mpg whilst happily sitting at any required speed. The gearbox is (for an older Citroen) fairly precise and easy to use aided by the new clutch + clip. The electric fan kicks in when required - does not overheat when standing in 30 degree traffic and the car keeps it's temperature well during normal use. The brakes work well and stop the car in a straight line (no ABS present on this model). Radio codes were provided with the car, with the original radio being in fully working order, including the steering wheel controls and cassette player. The sunroof works, and, to my knowledge, does not leak. The seats are in good condition, with the front seats still retaining the original owners seat covers. The dashboard does not creak and is not cracked. The carpets are not torn with no typical hole in the driver's foot well, however, the original floor mats are long gone.
Bad points:
Minor blemishes of lacquer peel to roof and rear 3/ 4 (nothing horrendous but noticeable up close), with some ill fitting and missing trim. Exterior and interior could do with a light going over to revitalise the car.
Only one key ("garage" key) - remote central locking system believed to be not working. Physical central locking works as expected including on the boot.
Tweeters could do with replacement.
Wear on steering wheel (hence replacement).
Some interior lights are out, specifically around the HVAC controls. The interior lights do not illuminate when the drivers door is open - believed to be a door switch fault.
The instrument binnacle was replaced as the previous speedo needle failed. The mileage is in reality approx ~10k miles less than indicated.
The car will come with a new steering wheel (not fitted) and it's old instrument binnacle which may be repairable.
Reason for sale genuine - I have planned some very long cross-continental trips, including with friends and relatives. As much as I love this car, I cannot travel long distances in a car with such limited safety equipment and space. If I could afford to keep this and my next car I happily would however a 3-car garage would be overwhelming when I realistically need no cars.
Price is negotiable within reason. I'm not seeking to return the money invested however these cars are rarer and deserve some love.
