Description
1981 BMW R100CS.
I have owned this bike for almost two years since doing a trade for my old R90S. I have bought a modern BMW and this bike is redundant so needs to go to an owner who will ride it. I have put on over 4, 000 miles in that time including trips to Wales and Scotland. It has proved to be very reliable. The tank and side panels appear to be original paint, but the fairing looks too good and I cannot guarantee it has not been painted. I changed the pushrod seals in August and have also changed the oil pressure switch which was also leaking. It is now oil tight from these areas. Everything works including the standard heated grips. I have recently serviced the bike with fresh oils in the engine and transmission and also a new oil filter. The bike comes with the originally fitted BMW King and Queen seat which I changed when I bought the bike. I still use it occasionally to keep it running. The bike needs a new rear tyre as it has worn flat due to a lot of longer distance motorway riding. The tank is not perfect having a few scratches which I have tried to show in the pictures. There is the original BMW crash pad, too, which I changed out so I could fit my Sat Nav to the bike. The bike is also fitted with a 'Surefoot' side stand. MoT and Tax exempt. £4250. (Does not include the SatNav mount). Please contact to view, for more information or photographs.
An R90S but with more power, a lighter flywheel, better brakes and standard electronic ignition plus higher gearing thanks to a revised bevel drive. These bikes can still do the business in modern traffic and are great long distance machines. Lowish seat height and lightish weight along with a comfortable riding position also help. The tank can take the bike over 250 miles on a fill, too. Comes with a set of standard BMW panniers.
