In the 1980s, the German brand BMW unveiled the new 5 Series (E28), the long-awaited successor to the first generation of the 5 Series. The result was a particularly dynamic and elegant saloon with clearly recognisable BMW design cues. And of course, this model was also equipped with wonderful and powerful engines, including this rare M535i version.
This Dutch-origin BMW M535i was produced in 1986 and supplied by the BMW dealer of the time in Nijkerk. The service book is present and partly stamped. The previous owner has had the car since 1989 and has always maintained it with a great deal of love and care. Recent maintenance invoices are also available.
This lovely BMW M535i has always retained its original Arctic Blau metallic colour with an interior that is completely original and matching. The car has shown some signs of wear over time, but is still in very good condition. The original sliding sunroof works properly. The body colour is a deep gloss, and the car has been partly repainted in the past. The body panels fit well and the various rubber components and trims are still in excellent condition. The original toolkit in the boot lid is also complete.
The interior is in very good condition. The seating upholstery is still very well preserved and shows a few signs of wear. These are easy to repair, but the previous owner endeavoured to preserve as much of the originality as possible. The seats are very comfortable, as you would expect from this BMW. The dashboard is in good condition and all instruments work correctly. It is particularly pleasing to see how everything is still original and in such careful condition.
As befits a true BMW, this M535i is also a wonderful drive. The inline six-cylinder 3, 430 cc engine delivers ample power (218 bhp) for both sporty and comfortable driving. The engine runs exceptionally smoothly and quietly. The manual gearbox is not only perfect for this car, but also shifts gears with great ease. The brakes appear robust and solid. On the road, it is clear this car has been maintained with great care and professionalism.
The special M535i variant makes this classic particularly interesting in several respects. Not only for its handsome looks or dynamic driving characteristics, but also because this car will only increase in value in the future.
