Exterior colour black with a red interior. Red leather seats, red vinyl door panels and dashboard trim, red wool carpets.
This rare MGA Twin-Cam was sold new in South Africa; the car was registered on the roads more than a year later, in January 1960.
In 2023, it was imported from South Africa to the Netherlands.
This fantastic MGA Twin-Cam is in good condition, showing signs of wear and ageing.
The body panels and paint show a few dings, scratches and paint defects. The original interior was refurbished in the past (the red leather was dyed) and is still in good condition, a genuine time capsule! Mechanically and technically, everything works beautifully. The engine runs and sounds very nice, and the modern 5‑speed gearbox (modified) shifts gears with liveliness and precision.
The 1, 589 cc Twin-Cam engine originally features two SU carburettors (108 hp).
This car is fitted with two Weber 42-DCOE carburettors with double starting, increasing power and performance and delivering an impressive engine note! The engine is equipped with an oil cooler. The MGA Twin-Cam was one of the first cars to be fitted with Dunlop disc brakes on the front wheels. The brakes were later upgraded with Willwood callipers.
The MGA Twin-Cam is a rare MG model, produced in only 2, 111 units between 1957 and 1959. The MGA Twin-Cams are easily distinguished by their special Dunlop wheels with “centre-lock” and the Twin-Cam badges on each side of the bonnet. With the bonnet open, spectators can admire the magnificent and impressive aesthetic of the “Twin-Cam” cylinder head!
