Description
L’Atelier des 1000 has the pleasure to present today for sale this superb Land Rover Defender 130. This one is prepared for off-road and long journeys and presents in white, with a zebra-striped fitted cabin and its grey fabric interior.
Versatile and reputed indestructible, the Defender can do it all! Produced since 1985, the original recipe has hardly evolved and this 2000s version has managed to preserve the essentials of what made the Def’s success, with added comfort.
The 130 is the ultimate version, with a little over 5 metres in length, a 5-seat cabin and a cargo bed converted for travel. It is probably the best-equipped motorhome to take you camping to the wildest and most inaccessible places in the world.
On the engine side, it is equipped with the famous turbo diesel TD5 engine, renowned for its robustness and generous torque.
Our example is of French origin and was bought new in 2000 by its sole owner. This Land Rover stands out for a history as rare as it is touching: prepared from new from the dealership for travel and off-road, it has accompanied its owner to the four corners of the world. Such a journey not only demonstrates the attachment to this vehicle but above all the legendary robustness and reliability of the Defender, capable of withstanding the most demanding conditions over very long distances.
It is equipped with a bull bar with winch mount, long-range spotlights with guards, a rock guard, a snorkel and a roof rack accommodating a spare wheel.
The suspension, paired with an Air Lift system and a twin tank, ensure robustness, range and comfort in difficult conditions.
The rear cabin is a Cellule Trayon, manufactured in Australia and designed for adventure; this alone is worth nearly €15, 000. It is mounted on Air Lift suspension and can be unfolded to offer more space, with a sleeping area including a bed, a fridge and a gas cooker, all powered by a suitable electrical installation managed by an IBS dual-battery system.
The whole is completed by a satellite communications radio, a Kenwood car stereo and additional cigarette lighter sockets, making this 130 a true expedition vehicle ready to depart.
Mechanically, the engine is in good health, it starts without noises or smoke and develops its power fully. The intercooler and the turbo were replaced a few years ago, while routine maintenance has been carried out by its owner.
The gearbox smoothly guides and locks its gears, while the clutch has good bite.
The running gear behaves well, the steering has no abnormal play, the suspensions do their job perfectly and the braking is effective and balanced and it is equipped with an ARB rear differential lock.
An additional 60L diesel tank is fitted to ensure long journeys, while two 60L and 70L water tanks are installed, all connected to a pump linked to the cooling system, allowing hot showers.
The wheels are in good condition, while the tyres are in very good condition.
The bodywork is overall well preserved. It bears witness to the journeys and mileage, with no rust nor dents from scrapes or accidents. Four new doors can be supplied.
The fabric upholstery is well preserved, as is the interior, while the instrumentation is functional.
The tub and the tarpaulin have never been installed, but can be supplied as an option.
Given its overall condition and the quality of the preparation, this Land Rover is offered at €39, 990. Trade-in and part-exchange considered.
