The Appeal

The manual-gearbox V8 Range Rover Classic is an increasingly sought-after machine. The five-speed paired with the 3.5-litre V8 delivers a driving experience that sets it apart from the more common automatic variants. Few Range Rover Classics survive in this specification, and fewer still have been treated to the level of restoration work seen here.

This 1988 example was discovered on a farm where it had sat unused for around a decade before being acquired by a Range Rover enthusiast who owned a bodyshop. It has since undergone a thorough bodywork rebuild carried out by Tim Hammond, a recognised specialist in classic Range Rovers. The structural and mechanical work was extensive, with new panels, sills, body mounts, fuel system components, brakes, and exhaust all fitted (full details can be found below). The body panels were stripped back to alloy and repainted in Caspian Blue, a colour that suits the Classic's clean lines.

The vendor notes that the paintwork would benefit from a machine polish and ceramic coat, and the interior wood trim could do with varnishing, but this is a well-sorted manual Range Rover Classic that is ready to be enjoyed.
