A beautifully documented early example of the Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible, chassis DRH11914, supplied new to Mead Cockshoot Limited of Great Ducie Street, Manchester on 25th November 1971, ordered by Mr D. G. Norton.
Finished in Black Cherry with Black hood, with Beige leather interior, this highly specified example was delivered new with a host of factory options including gold fine line paint detailing, Cumberland stone carpets, beige headlining, fog lamps, Avon radial tyres, automatic speed control, stereo 8-track tape player, fire extinguisher, and a child seat option. Additional features include an internally adjustable driver’s mirror and passenger vent-frame mirror.
The car is accompanied by extensive original documentation, including the original sales invoice, specification sheet, warranty documentation, and handbook pack. A copy of the factory build file supplied by the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club confirms production, testing, and completion between August and November 1971.
This is a highly original early production Corniche with outstanding provenance. From 1976 until 2018, the car was owned by founding member of The Moody Blues, Ray Thomas, who covered approximately 15, 000 miles during his ownership between the late 1970s and 1990s.
Following his passing in 2018, the car was sold and subsequently recommissioned with significant expenditure by marque specialists including Shadow Motorcars, Prestige Services, and Overton Vehicle Overhauls, including a full repaint to original specification and replacement tyres from Vintage Tyres. The interior and hood remain original.
Since we acquired the vehicle, we have covered over 600 mile performing reliably in all conditions.
