The Appeal
The XK140 evolved the original XK idea with a dash more panache, in the form of extra chrome, and some added luxury. They were great touring cars in period, particularly for cruising the autobahn or interstate at high speed, and they do the job equally well today.
This car was subject to a ‘ground up’ restoration in 2020 that delivers the high quality vehicle you see in the photos. The work is listed in detail below. It included a body off restoration and repaint in Old English White, full retrim in red leather, wood dashboard refurbished, new fabric roof and extensive mechanical work. The engine was overhauled, a new manual gearbox fitted, new clutch added and the manifolds replaced alongside fitting a stainless steel exhaust. The fuel and cooling system also received attention, the latter including suitable upgrades to improve reliability. The brake system has also been upgraded and the suspension refreshed.
The car appears to have only covered 3 miles since all this work was finished. So perhaps it is no surprise that the photos indicate a ‘showroom fresh’ car that looks ready to tackle any classic car rally or touring event.
