The Appeal
Produced from 1975 to mid-1977, the Vetroresina's GRP bodywork shaves approximately 150 kg from the kerb weight compared to the later steel-bodied 308s, resulting in a sharper, more agile driving experience. With only 712 examples built, it is comfortably the most coveted variant of the 308 GTB lineage, too.
At this time, the car's engine layout was a novel concept, but what an impact it would have - the 308 would go on to define the marque's future, and for many is practically synonymous with Maranello. Needless to say, we expect this example to turn plenty of heads.
This 1977 example is a matching-numbers car finished in its original and rarely seen "Argento Auteuil" metallic silver over a "Pelle Nero" black leather interior - a particularly elegant livery that flatters Pininfarina's timeless design. Originally delivered in France, the car later resided in a Spanish collection where it was kept in dry, heated storage and regularly exhibited at shows and events, before being registered in the Netherlands in 2018. Its authenticity and originality have been verified by Ferrari Classiche, and verify that the car now comes to us in its original factory specification.
It's become increasingly rare to see the Vetroresina come to market, and we're sure the lucky buyer will find this a very rewarding classic. image.png1.19 MB

The pleasing proportions of the 308 somehow seem all the more handsome rendered in fibreglass. Leonardo Fioravanti's evocative lines are still utterly timeless, with low-slung curves and subtle angles making for a car that feels fast even when stood still. The rare 'Argento Auteuil' livery really stands amongst the crowd, and looks in fine condition, having clearly been pampered from rooftop to tyres.
Internally, the determined cabin is still loaded with '70s character. The black leather upholstery is still full and well-kept, straddling well-presented carpets and sat ahead of a very nicely-presented dashboard, which is further adorned by clear, legible instruments. It's highly evocative - accented only further by the array of tactile switches and handles.
It's a very handsome car from top to bottom, and certainly amongst the finest Ferraris we've seen on the market. image.png1.01 MB

The vendor reports the engine bay is dry and clean
The vendor reports the car drives and shifts well
Mechanically standard and certified, this Vetroresina is exactly as it rolled off of the production line in Maranello. The engine bay is in handsome order, with the mid-mounted V8 proudly on display and still offering that whopping 255bhp for the lucky driver. The vendor reports that the car is starting, shifting and driving beautifully.
We've little doubt that this charismatic car will prove very rewarding for the lucky buyer. That impressive performance stemming from an impressively light 1,050kg makes for one of the defining sports cars of the 1970s, and this one is ready and waiting for its new owner to get behind the wheel.image.png1.16 MB BEFORE YOU BUY
