The Appeal

In the late '70s, Japan’s bike manufacturers were falling over themselves to claim the 1,000cc high-performance cafe racer crown. Amongst stiff competition, Kawasaki’s Z1R stood out, helped by distinctive angular styling and huge performance. It was also the first Japanese bike to feature a headlight fairing.

The Z1000S is an ultra-rare variant of the celebrated ZR1. it has got a 'four into four' exhaust, a cockpit fairing, solid wheels, drilled disc brakes and self-cancelling indicators. This 1978 Z1000S, finished in metallic Stardust Silver, comes to market after a comprehensive restoration to factory-correct specification, including a mechanical rebuild of the running gear. We’re told it has covered no distance since completion.

As you would expect, then, it is in extremely good condition. This is a rare bike and an even rarer find in this condition, and would grace any high-end collection.
